GUIDES

Using phone-controlled sky movement

Enable automatically aligned motion controls on iPhone or Android and recover from unavailable compass readings.

Open the sky map

Enable tracking deliberately

Tap the camera icon beside the zoom controls. If your browser asks for motion access, allow it to use this feature. No camera image is needed. Keep your location and time correct, then point the back of your phone toward the part of the sky you want to explore.

Automatic compass alignment

Orion uses the phone’s compass heading to align the sky automatically. There is no manual north-alignment step. If your browser supplies only relative movement, tracking stays off and explains that a compass heading is unavailable. Move away from magnetic accessories if the direction seems unreliable.

Pause or recover

Drag the map to pause tracking. Tap the camera icon to resume. Tracking also pauses when the app is hidden. If no sensor data arrives, use manual controls and try opening the site directly in your browser. Physical device and browser support varies.

Put this guide into practice
